| Overview | Wind Cave is a popular hike. It is short but steep most of the way. At the posted trailhead, begin hiking southwest on a well-maintained trail through high grass, trees and yellow flowers. There are areas of shade on the trail but much if it is exposed and offers great views of Logan Canyon. At 0.3 miles, you will reach a small rock field where water trickles from the side of the hill. It is easy to cross. Looking across the canyon, you can see a rock formation called the China Wall. At 0.5 miles, the switchbacks begin. For just under a mile, you zigzag northwest and then northeast. If you look up at 0.6 miles, you will get your first glimpse of the cave. The switchbacks give you a wonderful view of the Logan River below in the canyon and the mountains to the east. At 1.2 miles, follow the trail sign pointing to the right. You will soon turn and head southwest until mile 1.6. You are now standing on top of the cave. Go right and down into the cave for shade. Enjoy the natural limestone arches and hollows. |
